Gulbransen #48 - Atlanta (Reconditioning/Refinishing)

This piano belongs to a family in southern Tennessee. We are actually refinishing it through a retailer that is handling the job for them. Since its been in the shop somehow its taken on the name "Greenie Weenie", so there you have it. Greenie Weenie was likely painted green in the late 50s-60s during the time that this particular scheme was popular. We have refinished many pianos painted these quite vocal colors thru the years. This one will likely present the problem that many do during the finish. Green paint in the grain. We will see. In the end this piano is to be returned back to its original color for the owners.

This piano has really been a handful at this stage. I've had so many problems with veneer that is rotten, I've had problems with paint in the grain, and I was not able to get all of the green and yellow out. I've had problems with veneer coming loose after completing prep work for the next stage. What normally takes me one day in preparation for the next stage with this piano has taken me 3 days. In addition to that there will be more prep work needed in order to hide the green and yellow paint that is stuck in the grain of this piano. It really makes for a tough job but in the end it should be worth it for the customer.
