Steinway M #150-Atlanta, Georgia (Soundboard/Plate)

imageNow that I have moved on to the soundboard reconditioning you can start to get a feel for the transformation that will take place. Look at the contrast between the pictures of the soundboard before scraping and during scraping. I suspect the soundboard will get even lighter when I begin sanding. Years of dust and old finish have protected this old board quite well.imageimageimageA little detail work will be needed in this area but I have a few tricks up my sleeve for it, lol.imageThis is the first time through for now. Tomorrow I will go more in depth and clean bridges, sand, and address any problem areas I find.Soundboard and Pinblock Brief Look VideoimageimageimageimageimageimageimageimageI just love seeing the transformation take place when regilding the plate. Old and dirty to new and brilliant. This plate had several spills on it that were a little grimy but it was nothing that a little acetone couldn't take care of. All that's left is the black lettering now.
