Steinway M #150-Atlanta, Georgia (Soundboard/Plate)
Now that I have moved on to the soundboard reconditioning you can start to get a feel for the transformation that will take place. Look at the contrast between the pictures of the soundboard before scraping and during scraping. I suspect the soundboard will get even lighter when I begin sanding. Years of dust and old finish have protected this old board quite well.
A little detail work will be needed in this area but I have a few tricks up my sleeve for it, lol.
This is the first time through for now. Tomorrow I will go more in depth and clean bridges, sand, and address any problem areas I find.Soundboard and Pinblock Brief Look Video
I just love seeing the transformation take place when regilding the plate. Old and dirty to new and brilliant. This plate had several spills on it that were a little grimy but it was nothing that a little acetone couldn't take care of. All that's left is the black lettering now.
